Tax Identification Number Vietnam: The New Payable Identification Number
30. May 2023
From 10 May 2023, taxpayers must use a fee-based identification number for all tax payments. This must be applied for with the tax authority and those who fail to comply must expect sanctions. The experts from ECOVIS AFA VIETNAM explain the details.
On 24 April 2023, the General Department of Taxation (GDT) issued Official Letter No. 1483/TCT-KK providing guidance on the implementation of tax payments using the fee-based identification (ID) number. Accordingly, from 10 May 2023, taxpayers must use the ID number to make tax payments to the state budget, research the processing status of tax liabitlities, and trace or adjust payment information.
The Rules for Applying For and Using the Identification Number
The ID number shall be issued by the tax authorities:
For newly arising tax payables: upon notification of acceptance/non-acceptance of the e-application, or notification of tax payment.
For tax payables resulting from decisions on tax management or administrative violations, or tax liabilities recorded in the system but not issued with an ID number: through the GDT e-tax portal.
The ID number is unique to each taxpayers’s tax dossier or payable.
