Supply Chain Day on April 10, 2014

The Supply Chain Day is organized annually by the German Logistics Association BVL (Bundesvereinigung Logistik). The BVL is a not-for-profit business association founded in 1978 and has since then promoted its members’  main goal of increasing awareness of the importance of logistics and supply chain management in industry, science and the public sector. The 7^th Supply Chain Day took place on April 10, 2014 and over 400 events were held simultaneously all around the world. Companies, organizations and institutes opened their doors to allow outsiders behind the scenes of their operations.

During this year’s Supply Chain Day the BVL regional group in Beijing got together with the German Chamber of Commerce from North China to organize their own event in Tianjin. Interested individuals were invited to visit the E-Commerce Logistics Park located in the Wuqing Development Area. The presentation held by the Logistics Park allowed attendees and visitors to gain informative insights into the logistics activities and possibilities in the area around Tianjin. ECOVIS Beijing was present on sight.

After the event the attendees visited the warehouse site of China’s largest online liquor retailer within the E-Commerce Logistics Park. By allowing people to take a look behind the scenes into areas that are normally inaccessible and by unveiling the variety of supply chain dynamics and operations the attendees got a first-hand experience in what logistics is all about. Logistics and supply chain management are indispensable practices not merely when it comes to producing goods but also in terms of efficient warehousing and reliable delivery.
