Ecovis Malta is pleased to announce the launch of a new area of advisory services relating to the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’). With the deadline for compliance with the GDPR looming closer, organisations are requesting assistance with understanding what their obligations under this new Regulation are.
Data protection laws affect all sorts of organisations, as personal data collection takes place even with regards to a company’s own employees. All processing now has to be compliant with increasingly cumbersome obligations, from the moment of collection, to storage, processing, and even erasure. The GDPR introduced new rights for data subjects, and made some substantial amendments to existing data protection laws. Non-compliance with the GDPR can expose your organisation to fines of up to €20,000,000 or 4% of the annual turnover, whichever is the highest. Organisations need to be fully compliant with the GDPR by 25th May 2018.
