Is working for a smaller firm better than working for a Big 4 firm? YES, without a doubt. Working for a smaller firm I have found that I am less of a number and more of an individual. Having attained the CA qualification whilst working for a Top 10 firm in Australia, moved to London in 2007, aiming to progress my career in a major international market. Initially I took a short term contract role in the audit team of a medium sized London practice but found that as a contractor, there was little inclusion in firm wide activities and minimal opportunity for training and professional development.
