In the beginning of July Australian accounting firm Clark Jacobs joined Ecovis. The global consulting firm with its origins in Continental Europe is thus represented on the fifth continent, too. Ecovis also welcomes a new partner firm in Greece: ENEL SA has changed its name to ECOVIS Hellas SA. Ecovis now operates offices in 55 countries. Its consulting focus lies in the areas of accounting and auditing, tax, legal and financial advice.

ECOVIS Clark Jacobs is located in Sydney and was established in 2004 by merger of Clark Cohen Pty Ltd (founded in 1990) and Jacobs & Co Pty Ltd. (1995). The merger brought together the unique experience of each firms’ staff and Directors to provide a more holistic approach to their clients. „Interdisciplinary problem solving to reach optimal results is a hallmark of Ecovis as well“, says Kay Friedrich Thomsen, President of ECOVIS International.

ECOVIS Clark Jacobs has a total staff of 24 people. The services offered include financial accounting, taxation, audit and management consulting in areas such as budgeting, regular management reporting and controlling. David Conley, Garry Pammer and Heath Stewart, the three partners of the firm, have a Big Four background and a combined professional experience of 60 years.

Australia, officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is not only the world’s sixth-largest country by total area, but also the 12th largest economy. The per capita income is the world’s fifth-highest. Though the country is a large exporter of metals, minerals and agricultural products the service sector of the economy, including tourism, education, and financial services, accounts for about 70 per cent of GDP. With its 22.5 million inhabitants Australia ranks second among 187 countries on the UN human development index.

With an approximate population of 4.6 million people Sydney he most populous city in Australia and its financial and economic hub. The Australian Securities Exchange and the Reserve Bank of Australia are located here as well as the headquarters of 90 banks and more than half of the country’s top companies, and the regional headquarters of around 500 multinational corporations.

New member firm in Greece
ECOVIS Hellas SA was founded in 2009 as ENEL SA and has a total staff of 13 people. With its main focus on audit services, the firm provides additional services in accounting, tax and business consulting. Panos Vroustouris and Michael Zacharioudakis, the two partners, have extensive knowledge in audit and assurance as well as consulting and financial advisory.

The ECOVIS Hellas Office is located in Athens, the capital and financial center of Greece (officially the Hellenic Republic). The city’s recorded history spans about 3.400 years. With its 650.000 inhabitants Athens is also the largest city of Greece. Around 4.5 million people live in the metropolitan area, that is more than one third of the Greek population of nearly 11 million.

The Greek economy is dominated by the private and public service sector which accounts for 85 % of GDP whereas industry contributes 12 % and agriculture 3 %. Important service industries are tourism (16 % of GDFP) and merchant shipping. The deep crisis that Greece has been facing since the end of 2009 has brought a lot of austerity measures and financial reforms. However, the worst may be over now, and the economy shows first signs of improvement.
